Lanetta - Geary Street, SF

"It's stylish and bright. It's fresh."

Lovely Victorian-esque blouse. I like how she looks understated and put together.

A look at her shoes.

Nina - Dolores Street, SF

Nina is really great at layering knits, she does it here and she's done it before. I like how she has a definable aesthetic that is San Francisco weather appropriate, yet looks unique.

Vanessa - Dolores Park, SF

"Costuming."

Even with the over-the-top hat, her dress still is lovely and looks great with her peep toes and fishnets.

A look at those peep toes.

Annie - Dolores Park, SF

"Being on vacation, coming from a cold climate to a warm climate."

Annie dresses like a San Francisco native, boots, cute belt, nice earrings and cute dress. She was lucky, the weather was nice during her visit, but she's wrong. We're very cold of late, in the 40s-50s (Fahrenheit) in late April. Pfft.

Modesty - Dolores Park, SF

"Well I kind of like pink and purple, but sometimes I wear blue and white and stuff like that."

Coolest girl on the block. No contest.

Lovely sequinned Mary Janes.

Holly - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

"I tried on like 5 things this morning and he [pointing to boyfriend] wouldn't let me leave the house until he was happy with the outfit."

I like her play of proportions, textures and colors.

I love her moccasin loafers more than I should.

"Richard Brautigan."

A vest and tie under a leather jacket and a fedora? I'm awed by his level of dapperness on a Sunday morning. He's impressively great.

Tamera - Dolores Park, SF

"The sunshine inspired this outfit. I don't know, tango, I think."

I adore the orange dress and the western belt, not to mention those great looking sandals.

Very lovely snakeskin-esque green sandals slinking through grass.

Machine - 18th Street, SF

"Comfort. I wear color all the time, this is a really cozy outfit for me, it's an afghan."

I'm a big fan of the homemade, the knit, the diy (not to mention a big fan of color) and though I'm not sure Machine made the afghan itself, she did make the dress out of it.

Orange tights giving the leather platform sandals an orange cast.

Ariel - Valencia Street, SF

"What inspires my style? Growing up in Maine and not having any style; just developing it myself and thrift shopping. Punky Brewster is a big inspiration for me."

I like the juxtaposition of the hyper-girlie (pink tights and heeled sandals) with her militaristic olive green dress.

A nice bright yellow bag.

Those sandals and pink herringbone tights.

Andy - Valencia Street, SF

"I'm inspired by Native American culture. I shop at thrift stores and I'm definitely inspired by photographs, old magazines, and people on the street."

I have this thing for one-pieces. And! She is good at accessorizing: her belt, necklace, sunglasses, sweater, and huaraches. It all looks really great.

Cute huaraches.

Kelly - Dolores Park, SF

"The weather."

I like how she took a simple dress that could have come straight from a disco wardrobe and paired it with lacy straps of a vintage slip. It feels unexpected.

Cute sandals hiding in the grass. :)
Today's theme is red dresses, inspired (albeit a bit tardy) by Tricia of Bits and Bobbins/ wardrobe_remix. By the way, she's right, it's hard to get a color theme when you shoot street fashion photos, but I had it in the back of my mind as I shot over the last few weeks. And ta-da! A color theme. Thanks Tricia.

Willa - Geary Street, SF

"San Francisco basically. I go to school in San Diego and every time I come back here, I buy as many things as I can. The vintage stores around here. And Mission and Valencia, I guess, making an outfit out of it."

Her outfit, to me, is an idealized outfit for a San Francisco day: pretty red dress, sandals and denim jacket. It's nice touch that the dress is cinched together by a rugged leather belt.

A cute cat bag that blends into her dress.

A look at her sandals.

Leah - Geary Street, SF

"[Trying to remember the name of a vintage store on Haight Street] I think it's Blast from the Past. It's a store that sections itself off by eras, like it starts with the 20s and works it way back (to the present). Anyway, that store is amazing. And I guess old music, like vintage music inspired."

I like her cute late 60s era frock and how she's modernized her look by pairing it with gray hosiery and wedge sandals.

Danny - Geary Street, SF

"Color. I love the color blue. This is vintage Yves Saint Laurent vest. This Japanese Tony the Tiger. This is a vintage blue velvet, love the lining it reminds me of little boys' pajamas. Modern Amusement pinstripe pants. I love the old classic late 70s running shoes. And that's me. I also love octopus."

I love that he's pulled together very disparate articles of clothing by keeping it all in a blue tone. He looks great.

A homage to the octopus.

Those aforementioned 70s era running shoes.

Sasha - Valencia Street, SF

"I love color juxtapositions. When you put two colors together and they vibrate in a way that you go 'damn'."

I like her wrap around belt, it reminds me of an obi. Her dress and satchel seemed perfect for a day in the park, where she was heading when we ran into her. Sasha is behind the great read that is meatpaper.

Lovely cowboy boots.
