Alessia - Valencia Street, SF
"This is my style. I like to get everyday different, about my humor inside. So today, I was more fancy, but with something different - like my boots. I like Motorbikes, so… And the top is more, like, elegant."
Great hair and a cheery dress (look at those shoulders, I love poufy shoulders) and the best SF accessory - a well-used bike.
Motorcycle boots with extra zippers.

Adam and Emily - Folsom Street, SF
Adam: "I don't know. I'm going to let her dress me from now on."
Emily: "I stole this top from my roommate. I just kind of got what was on my floor and got ready."
I like her boxy cut top (so '90s) and her tube skirt (a la the mid to late '80s). I also dig her shaggy haircut.
A look at their casual shoes.

Wendy and Amy - Valencia Street, SF
Wendy: "Well this my '80s aerobic, kind of, fun-in-the-sun outfit."
Amy: "I definitely just thought of (dressing for) sun today. Light colors and feel(ing) breezy."
I like their mixing of patterns, within the same outfit (Wendy) and the combination of both their outfits, by virtue of sitting and standing next to each other. The cheeriness of their outfits made me happy to see them. (And they were really nice and friendly too!)
A look at their shoes, also cheery with the red suede and the pilgrim-esque buckle.

Phoebe and Lauren - Valencia Street, SF
Phoebe: "Boys."
Lauren: "Contrast. And for the weather, to stay cool."
Love how they mix the simple of everyday: tank top, rattan heels, cotton skirt and cotton dress with dressy-ness (fishnets and a fur headpiece). Everything looks a bit more put together in the black/white color palette.
The contrast of rattan heels with purple pedicure and beautiful leather booties.

Edward and Maria - Dolores Street, SF
Edward: "I think I'm inspired by pirates."
Maria: "Ah, the weather today."
Look at her lovely 60s-esque lace overlay dress. It's lovely, especially with her up-do and red round sunglasses.
Sensible black flats. Her Melissa's with that red emblem really stands out and matches her sunglasses.

Michelle - Dolores Park, SF
"I like the retro-chic kind of look."
Lovely dolman sleeved shift dress with a thick white belt. She looks effortlessly fashionable. She laughed when I stopped her, remarking that I was wearing a similar outfit.
A look at her rose festooned flats, ever peeking out from the grass.

Alisa - 18th Street, SF
"I just feel that this season, leopard is making a come back, which I've always really loved and just other colors like camel. My nail polish was green before, I love like a forest green this season... So, I'm just following the color schemes that I think are good for the fall. I live in Boston where this is more appropriate. Today I feel really warm. I feel like I should be wearing a summer dress, but in Boston, it's really popular."
Pretty girl in the leopard print and camel of the fall season.

Adrieni - 18th Street, SF
"Just the heat really. It kind of easy to put one thing on. I feel like I have no style and can't put on a cute outfit, so I just put one thing on."
Sometimes (being) a pretty girl in a nice dress and sandals is just the look I aspire to.
A look at her metallic sandals.

Joe and Kristen- 18th Street, SF
Joe: "Found it in my closet and it's fun. It's a nice warm day in San Francisco, and it's time to be breezy."
Kristen: "I'm a costume designer, so I guess I take a lot of fashion cues from film and theater."
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Kristen has taken a fashion cue from Breakfast at Tiffany's, but that's great because it really works with her frame and her hair pulled back is the perfect foil for her almost lace-like pink dress. He's got a charm much like Culture Club did in the 80s. I'm pegging him as Roy or Jon Moss.
His Converse and her studded sandals.

Jessie - 8th Street, SF
"Well we started with vintage cars and we looked into the fashion of the era and we just decided (my husband and I) that's when humans looked their best. Even if they didn't act their best with segregation and whatnot. So 30-50s, we really like the fashion. So the main reason."
Three years ago, I took a picture of Jessie and her husband, Timothy, at the Flea Market. I like that they hold steadfast onto an aesthetic, it's admirable to stay true to a vision. And she's right, clothing items from the 30s-50s are gorgeous, look at her dress! And her sweater!
A look at her flats.

Jean and Yuka - 8th Street, SF
Jean: "I found this dress on the sidewalk. So, that inspired it. Serendipity."
Yuka: "The sunglasses are from Virginia, deadstock at a thrift store. And Bahama Kangaroo. My clothing line, my art collective."
Saw these colorfully attired girls roll up on their bikes and knew I wanted to take their picture. Turns out it's my friend (and local SF artist) Yuka and her friend Jean. Texture, layers, and colors - oh my!
A look at their shoes and colorful tights. Footwear worthy of bike riding in SF.

Lewis - 8th Street, SF
"I think mostly vintage clothing and styles from the 1920s and '30s, that's a particular favorite."
It's easy to see why Lewis has been on past 7x7 best dressed lists. His corduroys have the charming applique of penguins and his frames are to die for.
A close-up look at his loafers and a good view of those penguins.

Erin - Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, GG Park
"It's really comfortable and I don't have to wear a bra."
Yes, I'm still into the one-piece. I like this one because of the exposed zipper. It has a very '90s look to it. Her yellow "banner" earrings are cute too.
I have to admit I was taken with her braids, something very Big Love (and yet, a touch '40s) inspired about how she styled her hair.
Slip-on Vans-esque canvas shoes.

Corinne - Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, GG Park
"Actually I just picked this shirt up in a vintage store, it's from the 1960s and I kind if just threw together some bright tights to give it a little bit of color."
I like the idea of playing with the sheer trend, through a more subtle medium (than just sheer fabrics) like this knit sweater that has the shadow of sheerness, yet seems very respectable in its knit design (though I would've pegged it for '80s era). Her matte purple tights add bright color.
Dusty mid-calf boots with buckles are just the right amount of swashbuckling.

Emily - Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, GG Park
"I'm from Indiana and I used to work at a thrift store, so I stole a bunch of clothes, that's how I got this outfit. I actually haven't bought clothes in a year and a half."
Though I can't condone theft, I do applaud Emily for not shopping for new clothes in a year and a half. And I do like her multi-patterned floral dress. I feel the different mixed prairie floral patterns work with the festival's bluegrass theme and she adds an element of modernity with her weaved brown leather belt (sort of like Jenna's but not as big).
Leather moccasin boots worthy of Robin Hood's crew for traipsing through the woods.

Jenna - Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, GG Park
"I guess it's basically a bohemian vintage look. Anthropologie meets Forever 21."
I like her wide brown belt to cinch together her floral dress. The subtle mixing of the floral pattern and the stripes in her sheer tights are a nice touch.
A look at her pointy flats.
