Krylon and James - Treasure Island, SF
Krylon: "So, what inspires my style is… I'm really into patterns and different types of... I like fall and I like the changing of the seasons. Just being able to play with clothes and stuff. So, I'm inspired by the movement of clothes, it's kind of like language, if you know what I mean, so if you speak the language of the season then you pretty much got the clothes on lock. And today I'm more just inspired by the fall and by the leaves changing colors and by the romanticism of it all. So, I'm doing romantic-type feel."
James: "What inspires me in general is found objects. I don't plan my fashion. If I find something I buy it and I wear it. For this outfit, I just like red pants."
Friends that wear clothes that unintentionally mimic yin-yang always excite my optic nerves.
A look at their shoes. Check out how Krylon's shoes are perforated, much like Matt's.

Falcon and Ashley - Treasure Island, SF
Falcon: "Mostly my grandmother, who was young in the 40s."
Ashley: "The 70s and rock music."
I love the element of dress-up and fairytale in their outfits. Save for their practical shoes, they look like they could have stepped out of a fashion mag, along the lines of 1990s-era Surface (I loved that magazine).
A look at their still practical shoes. I love this about fellow San Franciscans (even if I'm not the most practical shoe wearer).

Carina - Treasure Island, SF
"The cold and once it gets warmer at night, I can take something off and wear what's underneath. It's just for comfort."
Lovely heathered wool henley sweater worn over floral and that fur trapper's hat.
A look at her well-worn canvas slip-ons.

Youngmi - Treasure Island, SF
"Comfort, mostly."
I love the burgundy that is in her poncho is echoed by the oxblood of her boots. Youngmi wears prints beautifully, the busyness of the print is set off by her great, short hair. (I remember she once sat across from me and I could not take my eyes off of the kittens that were plastered all over her dress.) Youngmi is part of the wonderful team that makes up Mission Chinese Food, one of my favorite restaurants in SF.
Oxblood Doctor Marten's.

Ronan - Treasure Island, SF
"Things that I see every day."
I like how his striped shirt contrasts ever so slightly with his plaid jacket and how his shorts have a bermuda shorts silhouette. There's also something slightly reminiscent about him that calls to mind March Almond during his Soft Cell years (see below).
A look at his spare 4-hole oxfords.
March Almond circa Soft Cell.

Something nostalgic and sweet about her outfit worn with her huge sunglasses, slouchy tights, and a long sleeve top underneath.
A look at her colorful flats.

Carolin - Treasure Island, SF
"Kind of like indie, kind of like 1960s. Sort of a mix of Woodstock and hip cool San Francisco."
I took a picture of Carolin in Santa Cruz last December. It's good to know that she has a consistent love of fluffy sweaters and slouchy boots.
Her boots, now with fringe.

Matthew - Treasure Island, SF
"I like working class menswear, but a little stylish."
The button front shirt and braces with the 'stache and perfect hair contribute to the stellar image Matt presents to the world.
Gorgeous perforated oxfords in a single leather piece, but in the style of wingtips by Allen Edmonds.

Madeline - Treasure Island, SF
"I pretty much buy all my closed used and for less than $5. I found these ones for $6 at Mission Thrift. Normally I go over to Mission because that's where I like to find my stuff, sometimes it'll be hand-me-downs or when I go places I try to find the cheapest places."
I think that printed slacks and jeans look fantastic now. (At least that is what I'm selling, since I wear them.) These are a fantastic pair from Walking Art, out of Australia, that highlight capital buildings.
A look at her lace-up ankle boots.

Nikki - Treasure Island, SF
"Well actually what inspires my outfit is... Well what inspires my style is everything. I'm working at the summer camp booth over here, so I was trying to look a little summer camp, but really everything inspires me. I lived in Montana. Montana cowgirls."
Love her fringe vest and how it looks with her tight jeans, low boots, and almost v-neck white button front blouse.
A look at her low cut vintage booties.
