Tetsuo - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

"This jacket is Martin Margiela, these shoes Jill Sander."

I'm sort of in love with his jacket. I love Martin Margiela, so it isn't surprising, but the length, the collar, and off-center zipper are pretty divine.

A nice understated version of a man bag.

Hello Jill Sander trainers.

Daniel - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

"Warriors meets Blade Runner meets 80s neon techno future pop colors."

I like how he's personalized his leather jacket with braided rope through the right epaulet and how well all his clothes fit him.

Daniel just came from painting, but looks great. I hope to run into him when he's dressed up, I'll bet he looks phenomenal.

Caitlin - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

"Color - trying to overcome winter."

Caitlin's outfit is infused with whimsy by the nature of her accessories: pink feather earrings, sequinned belt, and white cowboy boots. She looks great.

Susan - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

"The colors, I like crazy clothes, like party clothes. I wear them to school because I go to an art school."

I love the joyfulness of Susan's outfit, especially her blouse and knapsack.

Susan's knapsack is particularly reminiscent of my high school years. Charming indeed.

Well-loved Keds.

Erik - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

"The 80s and mushrooms and acid."

Erik (a.k.a. conceptual artist Lazlo Kovax) wears refreshingly bright clothes. I've actually featured him before.

Itsuki - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

"I love feminine clothes. I've arrived here three days ago, I'm from Japan, and these shoes are very easy to walk around in. This is my casual style."

I like her camel swing coat and her floral skirt underneath.

Jorge - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

"I'm gonna be really honest, I don't have much money so I just buy stuff that I can afford and then my aunt made this (scarf). What inspires my style? Prints, I love prints."

I like his pink tie, long scarf and corduroy coat. Also, great hair, huh?

Nicholas and Courtney - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

Nicholas: "Many cultures, like the rave scene, music and retro and vintage. You know, the whole shebang, sort of eclectic."
Courtney: "However I feel when I wake up."

I like the playfulness of his outfit and her printed sweater dress worn with purple tights and scarf.

Lindsey - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

"Whatever I feel like that day. I try to switch it up every day. Today it's kind of grunge, plaid. I think that fashion should be an outlook for your soul, so whatever you feel like that day."

I love how colorful and cheerful her outfit looks. The colors work together because they're modulated by the gray of her jumper. I especially like her sparkly violet tights.

Observe her very large and apparently full handbag.

A look at her cute ankle boots and a smidge of those sparkly violet tights.

Amanda - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

"I just look for stuff that I like and put it together... colors I like. Like stripes with black, I tend to dress different every day."

I like her blouse/skirt cut and silhouette, which is similar to Natasha's. Also a fan of the coat and skirt sharing hemline length.

A look at her flats.

Ledora - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

"I guess music and inexpensive stuff."

It takes a deft hand to walk the line between stylish street appropriate wear and layering comfortable stretchy fabrics, Ledora does it well.

Style is sometimes in the details.

Natasha - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

"Basically anything in fashion magazines, just the City of San Francisco and colors. I really like colors."

I love her high-waist silhouette and how the stirrup tights meet the flats, leaving the top of the foot exposed.

It's like playing peek-a-boo with the top of her feet.

Danielle - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

"I like to try new things, I always try new silhouettes and I get inspiration from just walking around San Francisco and seeing what everyone else is wearing."

I like that her outfit hints at being luxurious: a velvet jacket, sparkly detail on her blouse, heels with bow detail - she looks ready for both work and after work drinks. (All without wearing black.)

A side view and peek at her handbag.

Yoko and Ethan - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

Yoko: "I don't know. Magazines?"
Ethan: "Probably the 20s, 30s and 40s - mainly."

I like the small details of their outfits, like her gold ballet flats and the cuffs of his pants. (Update: Was informed via comments that he's wearing spats, that they aren't cuffs.)

Her satchel.

His merse.

Check out their shoes and Ethan's great pants' cuff.

Lauren - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

"There's usually no set inspiration, just what appeals to me. I guess right now, I'm a 70s girl."

In the close-up below, you can see her very lovely 70s dress with the frayed-edge collar/hem and stripes worn with a belt. She just might be channeling Penelope Tree. (Picture below shoes in this post.)

I love her exaggerated cocktail ring.

Her nice gray handbag.

A peek at her black suede shoes.

Penelope Tree in all her glory.

Kyrylo and Oksana - Powell Street Turnaround, SF

Kyrylo: "My wife."
Oksana: "My style is inspired by my husband. He's my inspiration. So that's all."

I like how Kyrylo and Oksana have both chosen one very bold color and used that to anchor their outfits.

Her great Missioni-esque tote bag.

Carrying the color scheme all the way to their shoes.
