Gloria and Sandy - Project, Las Vegas

elmonte
Gloria: "I don't know. I just put on whatever I feel like dressing."
Sandy: "I think, just people on the street."

I like how the two ladies contrast, one a floral dress and denim jacket, and cowboy boots; the other a tuxedo jacket with a great Coco Chanel costume jewelry pin, sparkly necklace, and amazing over the knee brown boots.

A look at their boots, in particular Sandy's fantastic over the knee boots.*

Tina and Chase - Project, Las Vegas

tinachase
Tina: "I don't know."
Chase: "Music, a little bit of skate. It's vintage (the t-shirt), I don't know anything about football or the team."

I like how they both combined unexpected elements for an amped-up day look. Her asymmetrical haircut, sequin blouse, and booties are tempered by her denim jeans and cheery yellow handbag. His sport's team shirt is dressed up by the slight shimmer in his cardigan mixed-up with the unexpectedly preppy deck shoes.

Yumi and Takeshi - Project, Las Vegas

yumitakeshi

Sometimes it's all about the attitude. These two have that in spades. I am also into interesting text on clothing. And sometimes, sometimes I enjoy the posturing that goes hand in hand with aspects of stylized hip hop fashion.

Mami - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

mami
"I like vintage looking stuff. Like 40s, 50s, that's my thing."

I like Mami's topknot, her layers, and how she vaguely looks like she's in a retro-modern stewardess outfit. That neck kerchief is particularly interesting. (Draws the eyes in.)

Lace - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

lace

There is so much great detail to her outfit. Check out the asymmetrical collar with the studs and how they go down her jacket in a slight skewed fashion? How about her haircut or those shoes? And her jewelry, she's what the 90s dreamed of, but could never quite approach. I wish I was this creative with black, maybe I would wear it more often if I was.

Amazing velvet boots and those lace tights with black insets? So good.

Aaron and Kana - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

aaronkana
Aaron: "What inspires me is Euro fashion, you know Rock'n'roll. I like black. I like leather. That's all. I like fur, I don't have fur on me... I like edgy."
Kana: "My fashion look is black lace mixed up with leather."

Badass in shades of black creating depth with different textures.

Julia - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

juliamm
"What inspires is my style is, I just really love vintage. I really love vintage and I kind of like mixing it up with new stuff. I actually cut the bottom (of this dress) and made the tie from the material. I'm into reinventing things."

I like her small leather jacket worn with her print dress and those strands of faux pearls.

Courtney - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

courtneyaf
"I guess Japanese street fashion in general, mostly Lolita."

Courtney walks that line between the cartoon character (Strawberry Shortcake, perhaps) and the popular darker Lolita style. I find her outfit to have a Stepford quality that is both intriguing and frightening. That frilly blouse is A++ and so are those tights, tights I would cut someone for. (If I were the type to cut someone for tights.)

Her shoes are plain to offset these amazing gold shimmery tights.

Abigail - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

abigailmm
"I really like to mix texture and color and patterns that you wouldn't necessarily put together, so that's kind of it. Just kind of pushing the buttons when it comes to patterns and building a lot of texture from those patterns."

I like how she pattern mixes and makes what would be an evening gown suitable for day wear.

Wendy - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

wendymm
"1940s and 1950s pin-up."

Wendy of Edmonton's Rowena has a retro pin-up thing going on, but also, that dress with the gathering in the bodice and waist? That looks pretty darn sexy.

Willo - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

willomm
"I like outfits that accentuate my height (5'10"). I like that nobody can tell me what to wear (like a corporate job), so I'm often in jeans & a t-shirt by day, and then dress up to go out. I like to dress fun and young - in outfits that are as approachable and easy-going as my personality. Oh, and I never leave the house without accessorizing (earrings, necklace, bracelet, rings)."

Willo, the powerhouse behind Willotoons, is great about using color to accent her waist. Also, check out how the branches pattern on her dress is echoed in her branch earrings.

Nas - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

nasaf
"I just look at a lot of style blogs and that's about it."

I like the chainmail look of her sweater, how she's layering it with a beater, her hair, and those sunglasses that may or may not be aviators.

Booties that are pretending they are construction worker boots.

Ashley - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

ashleyaf
"This oufit was a mix of San Francisco schizophrenic weather, so I have lots of layers, and just trying to be comfortable for the day."

I like that Ashley looks pulled together and her comfort entails being monochrome, making her stand out piece, her cowboy boots, the focus in her outfit.

Momoca - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

Momoca

Momoca has been on fashionist a couple of times before. She is one of the most stylish people I've ever had the pleasure of photographing. My awe with her consistent chapeau wielding ability pretty much eclipses any other accessorizing power other fashionists have. Momoca also has the power of mixing textures and color to create a gorgeous depth in each outfit. I like her netted and be-ribboned bowler coupled with the classic striped top and the black wool skirt with unexpected bow.
momokoaf_closeup

She's always stellar, look at these great booties with the texture of the knit tights.
